"American Lobotomy" ~ Song lyrics that never became a song

American Lobotomy ~7-30-2012~

You gutted this Country of its staggering wealth
While the rest of us can simply go to hell
Hide your millions and billions offshore
Pay no taxes, and go to war

You've caused the great divide
Take all your money, run and hide
We bailed you out and you're making more than ever
Using every loophole, you're so clever

Grotesque riches are always your end game
Pay no taxes while you leave us dead and maimed
Is it the American way to take us for all we're worth?
It'll come back to haunt ya just like you deserve

How can you turn your back on the USA?
You use and abuse her all night and day
You've made your fortunes on all of our backs
And all you do is keep on crippling the masses

The Land a' Plenty only works for a very few
Aren't you glad you can pay to continue the ruse?
You've scammed and skirted the laws at every turn
You own Congress and we know you'll never learn

We took it to the British and fought for democracy
But you've torn it down with gross hyprocisy
You selfish greedy junkies don't know the cost
Well boys, this lawlessness has got to stop

You've created a land of misery for the citizens
And all the while you beam at your tax havens
Ripping off The People of this once great land
But when money's involved, you'll never understand

You're a disgrace to your Country and all the world
Too bad they all wanna be just like you
Stepping on the bodies of the populace
You couldn't care less because you got no conscience

If you weren't so greedy and gave a damn
About ALL of the People in the Land
We could have our day in the sun and a whole lot more
But you'd never agree to help the American poor

Drive your BMW's and your Cadillacs
Have 5 homes and portfolios unmatched
Keep on plundering Our Nation all the live long day
Sooner or later you'll regret your toxic ways

You've killed our hopes, and ruined our dreams
All because of selfishness and greed
You can't see the forest for the money
What's it gonna take to make you change, bullies?

Seeds of Revolution: Tavis Smiley's "Poverty is the new slavery"

(CBS News) According to a new report out this past week, poverty in America has reached its highest level since 1965. That so many Americans remain poor is a source of concern for our contributor Tavis Smiley:

Throughout American history there have been proud moments of revolution that forced the elite to remove their blinders of greed, tyranny and domination.

America has, of course, made great strides for freedom in regard to all of its citizens. But now America has regressed, and poverty is the new slavery.

The blinders are once again firmly affixed, and the necessary checks and balances have disappeared, making way for policies that coddle the wealthy, while the persistent poor, the working poor and the "new poor" are ignored and rendered invisible.

The fact that one percent of the nation's richest individuals control 42 percent of the nation's wealth is, to me, a stunning revelation in the wake of a recession.

The 400 richest people in America, according to Forbes, have more than one trillion dollars' of wealth. They each average $3.5 billion of net worth.

And, no, this is not the politics of envy, but rather a cautionary tale about what happens to a country that drifts so far away from any notion of fundamental fairness for its citizenry, that we end up a nation of the rich - and the rest of us.

Poverty threatens our democracy, a democracy with a deficit dilemma that the poor are not responsible for, yet they pay the price.

There are nearly 150 million poor and near-poor people in America who are not responsible for the damage done by the Great Recession.

Nearly one-third of the American middle class - mostly families with children - have now fallen into poverty.

The magnitude of the Great Recession confirms that poverty is no longer a personal calamity; it is, rather, a societal crisis.

The time is now to once again reawaken American democracy. It is time for righteous indignation against the fleecing of America's poor, given the indifference toward the poor that has infected our social, political and economic discourse. In short, it's time to make poverty a priority.

Where there is no hope for the future, there is no power in the present.

"Poverty is the New Slavery" ~ Tavis Smiley

This was aired on CBS Sunday Morning today: it is profound, succinct and POWERFUL. Never have I read anything to do with this morass we call "America" that's better than this: "Poverty is the New Slavery" ~ by Tavis Smiley. Its brevity makes it that much more powerful.

Go ahead, IGNORE IT, but at great peril.  ~Alas, my Brothers and Sisters, these ARE the SEEDS of REVOLUTION. I wrote a protest song with the same title not long ago: http://youtu.be/wPj9ZaBjVUk

Mitt Romney Could Lead to Lasting Change All Right

Should Mitt Romney become President, there's the very real hope that this will result in lasting change. The Governor represents what is so disgustingly sick about America: all for me, none for you. Hiding money offshore and in Switzerland, and outsourcing jobs anywhere but HERE is not something Romney feels he must divulge. Remember, he retired from Bain Capital before he continued to lead it anyway. But, it has certainly served him well. He's just too entitled to have to pay taxes like you and I.

How low must we sink in order to revolt? Republicans (and plenty of Democrats), aka The Super Elite, are like raging alcoholics who just can't seem to stay on the wagon, leaving 99.9% of Americans, not to mention most of the rest of the world's population, out of the equation for the opportunity to lead a good life.

Despite all that's happened to our economy, both nationally and globally (LIBOR Scandal, bailouts, unending bonuses, insider trading anyone?), outlandish, arrogant and rampant greed continue unabated. The .01% Elitists just keep on keepin' on in plain site as if greed is their birthright, everyone else be damned. Trickle-Down economics has not only never worked, it is still the main mantra of the super rich. All riches keep trickling one way only: UP.

The only seeds trickling down are the seeds of Revolution.

Aurora

I may have no right bringing this up after so much pain and suffering. But, that movie theater massacre is just too unbearable not to vent my agony. I am not trying to vent anybody else's, just mine:

First, blame the murdering scumbag. You can not blame the movie.
Second, blame the gun culture we live in: unfettered access to every grizzly assault weapon and gun known to mankind, legal and illegal, and infinite rounds of ammo.
Third, blame our Country's government who condones and encourages needless butchering wars as if they're a necessary patriotic duty and national treasure to be proud of.
Fourth, blame our increasingly violent society and world. There's 7 billion of us now, and Mother Nature's making us pay the price for our wanton disregard of the environment and each other.
Fifth, blame the increasing gap between the haves and have-not's, a grotesque income and opportunity inequality that has probably doomed us all.
Six, don't talk PEACE unless you mean it and can back it up with peaceful actions.

I will most likely add more, but it's a start. Thoughts and prayers go out to all those unlucky movie-going innocents in Aurora, and the city itself.
